SALINAS II, MANUEL FROYLAN (1939 ~ 2021). The following is an obituary for Froy Salinas, former Member of the Texas House of Representatives. The obituary was provided by Mission Funeral Home of Austin.

Our beloved, Honorable Froylan "Froy" Salinas, age 81, resident of Austin, Texas, was called to our Heavenly Father on Monday, May 10, 2021.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel Salinas and Maria Dominguez Salinas, and his sister, Frances Flores.

Froy is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Lisa Salinas, as well as, his children: Manuel Salinas III, Nancy Clark and her husband Jim Clark, Judy Salinas, Tricia Licon and her husband Edward Licon, all from Austin, TX. His sister, Sally Saldana and her husband, Frank Saldana of Tahoka, TX and ten grandchildren, five great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and many other loving family and friends.

Froy was the first Hispanic elected from Lubbock and served the 65th through 68th legislatures, from 1977 to 1985; 4 terms and 8 years in the Texas House of Representatives. He continued his political passions as a Lobbyist for the rest of his career.

He was a loving husband, daddy, grandpa and great grandpa. He loved to travel and watch his grandkids play sports. He was their #1 fan. He was a great American, loved by many and will be deeply missed.

Honorary pallbearers will be J.R. Rodriguez, Isac Salinas, Christopher Rodriguez, D.J. Whaley, Joshua Mason Council-Salinas, and Zach Whaley.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The Memorial Service will begin at 6:00 p.m. at Mission Funeral Home Serenity Chapel, 6204 South 1st Street, Austin, Texas 78745.

His urn will be buried at the Texas State Cemetery at a later date, as a private service with family.
