CAMPBELL, SCOTT EDWARD (1954 ~ 2013). The following is an obituary for Scott Edward Campbell, former State Representative. The obituary was provided by Harrell Funeral Home.

June 29, 1954 - February 11, 2013

Scott Edward Campbell, 58, of Buda, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 11. Scott attended school in Rocksprings, Paint Rock, and Sonora and graduated from Angelo State University in 1977 with a bachelor's degree in Journalism. He worked as a photographer and Ag Editor at the San Angelo Standard Times and later was the owner and publisher of Ranch and Rural Living Magazine in San Angelo. Scott served as the State Representative for District 72 from 2003-2007. Most recently he worked as the State Coordinator for Farm and Ranch Lands Conservation at the General Land Office of Texas.

Scott had many passions, including photography, writing, golf, and researching Native American history. He recently completed a book about his family's ranch in Paint Rock. Of his many accomplishments, he was a nationally recognized photographer of Texas agriculture and a graduating member of Class 2 of the Texas Agricultural Lifetime Leadership (TALL) program.

He was a devoted family man and was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mary and Ned Campbell and Ellen and Ben Sims. He is survived by his parents, Fred and Kay Campbell of Paint Rock, wife Christine, daughter Jill Reed and husband Luke of San Antonio, son Steven and wife Haley of Tyler, the children's mother DeAnna Hester, brother Bill and wife Judy of Eden, two nephews, Auggie and John, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and his special 4-legged angel Gabby. Scott especially cherished his role as "Pop" to 2-year-old granddaughter Sophie Cora Reed, and was eagerly awaiting the arrival of new grandson, Rollins Scott Campbell, due in March.

The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, February 15, 2013 at Harrell Funeral Home, Austin, TX. Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Christian Life Church. Burial to follow at the Texas State Cemetery.
