The following obituary was taken from the North Dallas Funeral Home website,

Phyllis Scott ‘Scotty’ McGee Geiger died peacefully in her sleep August 17, 2012, in Dallas, Texas. Scotty devoted her life to family and friends and will be dearly missed by all. Her abounding life was filled with laughter and adventures. Scotty was born March 5, 1935, to Laurence and Phyllis Thomson McGee. She graduated Sunset High School in Dallas in 1952 then attended University of North Texas. On June 4, 1954, she married her childhood sweetheart, Richard Geiger, at Christ Episcopal Church in Oak Cliff.

Scotty Geiger was very committed to the community and she made many friends along the way. In her religious life she served on the St. Paul vestry and was on the St. Paul’s flower guild. Scotty was one of the original campers at Camp Crucis in 1948 and helped with the camp for over 25 years. It has been said that she personified the spirit of Camp Crucis. She was one of the founders of the Canterbury Episcopal School in DeSoto. In her civic life she was president of the Oak Cliff Woman’s Club (1996-1998) and was chairwoman of the Oak Cliff Woman’s Club Trust Foundation (1998-1999). She was on the Wynnewood Lake Association Board. Her volunteer work was inspiring.

Scotty was a wonderful seamstress. This gift allowed her a creative outlet where she made many beautiful costumes for Mountain View Community College theatrical troupe. She was active in the Austin Street Centre and the Stewpot in downtown Dallas. She was involved in “Our Friends Place” as a volunteer and a board member .This organization is dedicated to helping at risk young girls and women succeed by teaching them to be self-reliant. She called herself a grateful alcoholic because she was given a second chance at life with peace, love and joy. Through Alcoholics Anonymous she sponsored many people that needed a caring motherly person who had been in the same place they were. One can only imagine the many lives that were directly and indirectly changed by her works.

As Scotty would say, she and Dick Geiger never met. They were childhood sweethearts who married on June 4, 1954. Scotty’s legacy is far-reaching with five children and their spouses: Scott and Kathleen Geiger of Waco; Angela Geiger of Lewisville; Margaret Geiger of Duncanville; Claire and Kevin Vail of Champaign, Illinois; and Amy and Frank McCarty of Longview, Texas. She was “Gammy” to her grandchildren and their spouses: Elisabeth Allard, Andrew and Krista Allard, John and Lisa Allard, Stuart Geiger, Audrey Scott Geiger, Richard and Fernanda Lau, Laurence Lau, Cecilia Lau, Grace Walworth, Charles Walworth, Emily McCarty, Rachel McCarty, and Ian McCarty. She has many nieces and nephews that always have a funny story about their Aunt Scotty. She is survived also by John McGee, her “uncle Johnny” and her many cousins.
