WHITE, THOMAS H. (1842~1911) Thomas H. White was born in Tennessee in 1842. During the Civil War he served in Company C, 5th Texas Cavalry, Green's Brigade, Taylor's Division. The 5th organized in September of 1861. The 5th participated in many skirmishes in New Mexico and Louisiana including Valverde, Glorieta Pass, Mansfield, and Pleasant Hill. On May 26, 1865 General E.K. Smith surrendered the 5th.

White came to Texas in 1846 and lived in Dallas, Dallas County. He was a widowed printer before he was admitted to the Confederate Men's Home twice. The first time on September 11, 1900 and released at his request March 15, 1902. He was readmitted on February 16, 1911 where he died March 1, 1911.
