WILSON, W. H. (1842~1911) W.H. Wilson was born in Missouri in 1842. During the Civil War he served in Company A, 5th Virginia Infantry, Jackson's Brigade. The 5th Virginia organized in Augusta County May 1861, and consolidated with the 2nd, 4th, 27th, and 33rd Infantry regiments May 1864 to April 1865. The 5th participated in numerous battles including 1st Bull Run, 2nd Bull Run, Antietam, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, The Wilderness, and the Petersburg Siege. On April 9, 1865 surrendered at Appomattox Court House, Virginia by General Lee.

Wilson came to Texas in 1866 and lived in Dallas, Dallas County where he was a member of the Presbyterian Church. He was a single architect who lost an eye, perhaps in the war. On May 5, 1910 he was admitted to the Confederate Men's Home where he died April 1, 1911.
