| CARLETON, FRED(1841~1910)Fred Carleton, Confederate veteran and State Legislator, was born on April 15, 1841 in London, England. He was a member of Company G, 16th Infantry, Walker's Division. He was one of the Founders of the Confederate Home in Austin, Texas. He was one of the orgainzers of the Widows and Orphans Home. He was a member of I. O. O. F. in Corsicana, Texas. He was Grand Sire of I. O. O. F. from 1896-1898.
He died in Austin, Texas on November 11, 1910. His body was moved from Oakwood Cemetery in Austin, Texas to the State Cemetery during the Centennial in 1936.
His monument was erected by the Odd Fellows of Texas. |
