| BASS, BENNETT (1830 ~ 1909). Confederate veteran Bennett Bass was born in 1830 in North Carolina.
During the Civil War he served in Company H, of Dave Terry's Regiment. This regiment was organized in 1864. They were surrendered by E.K. Smith on May 26, 1865.
Bass lived in Woodville,Tyler County for much of his life. However, he did spend four years in Comanche County where he farmed. He was married to a Melvina Johnson. He suffered from foot ailments and rheumatism when he was admitted to the Confederate Home on May 4, 1905.
Bass was discharged at his own request on May 26, 1906 and readmitted on August 27, 1908. He died at the Home on December 1, 1909 and was buried at the Texas State Cemetery.
