STORY, J. T. (1845 ~ 1908). Confederate veteran John T. Story was born in Tennessee in 1845.

During the Civil War he belonged to Company I, 62nd Tennessee Infantry, Vaughan's Brigade, Smith's Division. He enlisted in Confederate service at Newport, Cocke County, Tennessee. Story fought at the battle of Vicksburg and was taken prisoner. He was paroled July 4, 1863 and rejoined Confederate service.

Story moved to Texas in 1880 and lived in Paris, Lamar County where he was a member of the Baptist Church. He was widowed carpenter when he was admitted to the Confederate Men's Home at Austin. He was admitted on January 20, 1901 and he died at the Home on September 11, 1908.
