| BERNARD, LEWIS A. (1828 ~ 1908). Confederate veteran Lewis A. Bernard was born in 1828 in Virginia.
Bernard joined the Confederate Army as a Private in Company H of the 26th Louisiana Infantry, but saw little action. He enlisted March 21, 1862 and was discharged November 13, 1862 for unknown reasons.
In 1871, Bernard settled in Sabine Pass, Texas and became a printer. He was admitted to the Confederate Men's Home in Austin on December 7, 1907 and died May 7, 1908. He was buried in the Texas State Cemetery the following day.
