DAVIS, ANN BYARGEON (1933 ~ 2011)
The following obituary appeared in the Austin American-Statesman on January 15, 2011.
Our precious wife, mother and grandmother, Ann Vaniece Byargeon Davis, 77, was accepted into Christ’s loving arms on Thursday, January 13, 2011, while surrounded by her family. She was born on February 6, 1933 in Houston, Texas, to Theo W. Byargeon, Sr. and Mary Lee Sims Byargeon.
Ann was a graduate of the 1950 class of Lamar High School in Houston, Texas, and attended Baylor University where she was a charter member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. Ann met the love of her life, Will D. Davis at Barton Springs pool in Austin, Texas. They were married on December 17, 1954 in Austin. Ann later worked for Governor Allen Shivers.
Her whole life was focused on nurturing and caring for her family. She spent summers enjoying the mountains at their family cabin in Estes Park, Colorado and their family home on Lake Austin with her husband, children and grandchildren. Not only was “Mimom” a great mother and grandmother to her own family, she demonstrated the same love toward all their friends. Her kind and gentle spirit continues to impact not only her own family but also anyone who came in touch with her.
Ann loved the church and walked out her faith. She was a member of Hyde Park Baptist Church and Austin Christian Fellowship. Ann had a strong persevering belief in the goodness of God and His blessings. She was a true woman of prayer. Ann was a faithful friend who demonstrated sincere empathy and caring regardless of whether you had known her a lifetime or just recently met. Though the last decade of her life had many health struggles, it never affected her kind spirit.
