ALLDAY, PATRICIA PRYOR (1932 ~ 2015). The following is an obituary for Patricia Pryor Allday, spouse of former Chairman of the Texas State Cemetery Committee Martin Allday. The obituary was provided by Weed, Corley, Fish Funeral Home.

Patricia Pryor Allday, age 83, died Wednesday, August 19, 2015 in Austin, Texas, surrounded by her three children.

The daughter of Edna Graham and William Harry Pryor, she was born June 10, 1932 in Lubbock, Texas. Patricia's early childhood was spent in Pecos and her teenage years were in Midland. She was predeceased by her parents and her husband Martin Lewis Allday, Jr. They were married 54 years. They made their home in Midland, Texas, Washington, DC and most recently in Austin, Texas.

One of Patricia's most endearing qualities was her ability to make and keep life-long friendships. While attending Midland High School, Patricia joined with seven young women in forming a club known as "W.H.A.M." These eight classmates have remained close throughout their lives and even as recently as March 2015 enjoyed regular reunions in various locations around the country. The secret meaning behind "WHAM" remains a topic of debate even today. Some claim WHAM stands for "We Hate All Men" while others acknowledge it really stands for "We're Hunting A Man." When asked, Patricia most likely would reply, "I don't believe I said."

Patricia graduated Midland High School in 1949. She attended one year at Gulf Park College in Gulf Park, Mississippi before enrolling at the University of Texas at Austin and graduating in 1953 with a Bachelor of Science in Education. She was an alumnae of Kappa Kappa Gamma, a sustainer in the Junior League of Midland and Austin, a member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, and a Daughter of the King. Patricia enjoyed a weekly Bible Study in Midland and she loved her Book Club and Garden Club friendships too. She was in a needle point sewing club called "Stitch & Bitch" and she spent two years creating a holiday vest for Martin, her husband; it features symbols of every holiday. Her all time favorite occasions were family holidays with all her children, grands and great grands.

She is survived by her daughter Katherine Allday Timberlake of San Antonio, granddaughter Sarah Timberlake Halbach (Ben) of San Antonio, great grandchildren Annabelle and Ladd Halbach, grandson Henry Timberlake of Beijing, China, daughter Elizabeth Allday Knowles (Mark) of Austin, grandson Justin Knowles (Andi) of Lubbock, great grandson Parker Knowles, grandson, Captain Jackson Dashiell (Stephanie) of Valdosta, Georgia, great granddaughters Audrey and Felicity Dashiell, granddaughter Lindsey Knowles Woo of Austin, granddaughter Caroline Dashiell Higgins (David) of Ft. Worth, granddaughter Kellie Katherine Dashiell of Dallas; son Marty Allday (Devera) of Houston, and grandsons Austin and Travis Allday.

Patricia also is survived by her sister Phyllis "Fifi" Blackwell (Rebel) of Dallas; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family will be held Friday, August 21, 2015, 6 to 8pm at Weed-Corley-Fish Chapel, 3125 North Lamar Blvd. Austin, Tx 78705. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 22, 2015, at 10am at Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, 3201 Windsor Dr., Austin, Tx 78703. A Burial Service & reception following will be held Saturday, August 22, 2015 at 11:30am, Texas State Cemetery, 909 Navasota Street, Austin, Tx 78702.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Captain Jackson Dashiell, Henry Timberlake, Justin Knowles, Austin Allday, Travis Allday, Ben Halbach, David Higgins, Marvin Stetler, Tim Thompson, Sr., Tim Thompson, Jr., and Ford Thompson.

The family is thankful for the wonderful caregivers at Querencia Plaza.
