YOUNG, HENRY (1846-1905) ~ Henry Young, Confederate Veteran, was born in 1846 in Texas where he grew and became a farmer. Towards the end of the war, Young mustered into Company B of David S. Terrys Regiment where they were part of the Trans-Mississippi Department. They were active in the numerous conflicts in Arkansas. When sent back to Texas they were placed on commissary duty and eventually disbanded in the spring of 1865.
Assumedly, Young returned to Texas where he may or may not have resumed his farming occupation. There is evidence that he lost a leg, but no proof as to if that was during or after the war. He resided in Caldwell, Texas up until December 6, 1897, when he was placed in the Confederate Mens Home in Austin, Texas. He stayed there until his death on June 11, 1905, and is buried in the Texas State Cemetery.
