COLLARD, WILLIAM E. (1839-1902). William E. Collard, attorney and judge, son of James H. and Julia (Robinson) Collard and grandson of Elijah S. Collard, was born in Conroe, Montgomery County, Texas, on October 3, 1839. He attended McKenzie College before the Civil War. During the war he enlisted with the Tenth Texas Infantry and transferred to the Fifteeneth Texas Infantry, where he served with Company B. He was admitted to the bar in 1865 and established his practice in Robertson County. He served as district judge from November 1880 until he was appointed to the Commission of Appeals on September 15, 1887. On April 15, 1891, he became judge of the Third District Court of Civil Appeals. In 1865 Collard married Mattie Glaize, who died in 1867. In 1868 he married M. E. Heth, and they had three children. He died on April 14, 1902.
