KILGORE, JANE REDMAN (1923 ~ 2006). The following is an obituary for Jane Redman Kilgore, spouse of Joe Madison Kilgore, former United States Congressman. The obituary was provided by Weed Corley Fish Funeral Home of Austin.

"Patricia Jane Redman was born May 30, 1923 in Dayton, Ohio, to Lieutenant Mark Henry Redman and Lois Wilkins Redman. She died September 18, 2006, at her home in Austin.

As the child of a military family, Jane traveled widely, and at Randolph Field, San Antonio, she met Major Joe Madison Kilgore (later Maj. General, USAFR, and member of the Texas House of Representatives and United States House of Representatives). They married on July 28, 1945. Jane and Joe Kilgore lived with their family in Texas' Rio Grande Valley, in Washington D.C., and in Austin. Joe Kilgore died February 10, 1999. Jane remained active throughout her life in The University of Texas, statewide and community affairs.

The Kilgores are survived by their children, Mark H. Kilgore and Celia W. Kilgore, Dean M. Kilgore and Sydney M. Kilgore, William M. Kilgore and Mary Lou Kilgore, and Shannon J. Kilgore and Louis K. Hine, and by grandchildren Jane S. Kilgore, Caroline A. Kilgore, Augustus M. Kilgore, Emma K. Hine, Sarah Jane Hine and Jessie Frances Hine.

Jane Redman Kilgore will be remembered with love and gratitude by her family and many friends for her dear manner, grace, sparkle, generosity, devotion, and strength.

Burial will be at a private family service at the Texas State Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Scott & White Memorial Hospital Foundation, or to Hospice Austin."
