| CAVNESS, ADDIE ELIZABETH WORD (1897 ~ 1998) was born August 20, 1897, died March 10, 1998. She was the wife of the late Charles H. Cavness, State Auditor of Texas.
Born and raised on the King Ranch near Agua Dulce, Texas, she had lived in Austin since 1942. She attended San Marcos Teacher's College and taught school for several years before her marriage. Ms. Cavness was an active member of First United Methodist Church, serving in countless ways, especially as Sunday School superintendent and teacher of the Francis Asbury Class into her nineties; she was honored in August 1997, at the celebration of her centennial birthday.
She was a founding member of the State Ladies Club, and was a tireless volunteer in the community. For many years, she contributed her time and talents to the Montopolis Friendship Community Center, worked her neighborhood for fund-raising drives and delivered Meals on Wheels.
