| LUNA, ELOISA MARTINEZ (1927 ~ 2003). Eloisa Martinez Luna was born on July 4, 1927, in Corpus Christi, Texas to Felix and Josefina Cano Martinez. She was raised in Corpus Christi, where she graduated from high school and later business college. She then began a career in the real estate business at Guaranty Title and Trust in Corpus Christi, specializing in the title and closing departments. In 1954 she moved to Austin with her aunts, Carolina and Modesta Cano.
Eloisa was married to Ronnie Luna in 1964. They were married for almost 25 years before he preceded her in death. They met in Austin when Ronnie was in Law School at the University of Texas. Ronnie always joked to family and friends, that to receive Eloisa's hand in marriage, he had to convince her strict catholic aunts of his intentions. He won their approval after presenting them with a King James Bible. They didn't know that the Bible had come from the Holiday Inn. After their marriage, they had a son, John Thomas (Tommy) Luna.
Eloisa Luna was active in the Catholic Church. She was a member of St. Ignatius Church, and later, San Francisco Javier Church. In Austin she worked for Austin Land and Title, Transamerica Title, the Law Offices of Jerry Swaggert, and finally the General Land Office with the Texas Land Commission under Gary Mauro.
Eloisa Luna died in Austin on October 2, 2003, and was buried at the Texas State Cemetery on October 4, 2003.
