MILLER, EDITH BOOKER (1916 ~ 2015). The following is an obituary for Edith Booker Miller, spouse of Justice George E. Miller. The obituary was provided by Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home of Rockdale.
Edith Booker Miller, 99, of Houston, passed away July 17, 2015. She has finished her journey peacefully on earth at her home and has risen to the forever place with her Lord. The family will receive family and friends at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Texas State Cemetery in Austin, Texas at a later date.
Edith was born April 28, 1916 to Owen Thomas & Melba Marie (Reaves) Booker in Ripley, Mississippi. Edith was talented at many things. She was a great seamstress, loved needlework as well as almost any art or craft project. She became an accomplished artist and her paintings grace the walls of her family and friends. Other activities included traveling, gardening and golfing. In her later years she learned how to email and play computer games. Her greatest love though was her family. She had a great lust for life and did not give in easily to her failing health. When given an opportunity to go anywhere her only question was “when do we leave?”
She is preceded in death by her husband, Judge George E. Miller; grandson, Eric Davenport; parents; brother, David Booker; and sister, Lucile Crawford.
Edith leaves behind her daughters, Jacquelyn Davenport of Cascade, Colorado and Pamela Johnson of Houston, Texas; grandsons, Keith Davenport, Jon Davenport and wife Mary, Rob Sziy and wife Charlotte, and Kelly Sziy and wife Kasie; great grandchildren, Tresha Davenport, Nigel Davenport, Alex Davenport, Josh Davenport, Dyllan Sziy, Brody Sziy and Kaiden Sziy; two great-great grandchildren; and her dear sister, Owen Rachel Graves of Sharp, Texas.
