Ronald Edd Roberts

ROBERTS, RONALD EDD (1934~2006) Dr. Ronald Edd Roberts was born December 21, 1934, in Abbott, Texas, to Thomas Roy and Lillie Ethel Roberts. He was a 1953 graduate of Abbott High School. After graduation, he attended the University of North Texas, where he received his B.S. degree in 1957. Roberts worked as a public school teacher and a college instructor. From 1957 to 1959, he worked one year in Farmers Branch Independent School District and one year in Midland Independent School District. In 1965, he received his M.S. degree from Baylor University. That same year, he began working at Houston Baptist College and stayed there for three years. In 1968, he began working at Lee College in Baytown, Texas, and taught there until 1995. While working at Lee College, he also received his Ed.D. degree from the University of Houston in 1978 and served as the coordinator of the Lee College Symposium on Public Affairs from 1987 to 1995.

Roberts served as a member of the Texas House of Representatives from 1960 to 1967, representing the 54th and the 42nd districts. He also served as a Board Member and Chairman for the Sterling Municipal Library from 1987 to 1994. Roberts was a member of the Hillsboro Jaycees, the Board of Stewards for the First Methodist Church of Hillsboro, Texas, the Administrative Board for St. Paul‘s Methodist Church of Hillsboro, and the Administrative Board of the Bering United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas. He was also a Junior and Senior Warden for the All-Saints Episcopal Church in Baytown, Texas, a member of Pi Sigma Alpha, Phi Alpha Theta, The National Political Science Honor Society, The National History Honor Society, and the Vice President of the Texas Junior College Teachers Association.

Dr. Roberts passed away on February 3, 2006, at a Webster Hospital. He was interred at the State Cemetery five days later.
