DAVIS, GEORGE HAROLD (1933 ~ 2012). The following is an obituary for former Texas House Member George Harold Davis. The obituary was provided by Harrell Funeral Home and was published in the September 27, 2012 edition of the Austin American Statesman.

George Harold Davis George Harold Davis left this life to spend eternity with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ September 25, 2012. Harold grew up in Austin, Texas and was a graduate of Austin High School. After graduating from Baylor University, Harold spent his time in the music and education ministry in cities across Texas. He later furthered his studies gaining a masters degree from Texas Tech University in education.

In 1967 Harold went into business in Austin with the goal of ultimately being full time in world evangelism. From 1968 to 1972 Harold was elected to the Texas House of Representatives serving Burnet and Travis Counties. Harold loved life, his family, and the opportunity to share his faith with many people through the Gospel ministry. Becoming a Christian at a young age, his life of service to the Lord saw many blessings. Harold had a heart for evangelism both at home and around the world. In 1975 Harold led a group to begin World Hope Foundation which was very instrumental in organizing evangelistic efforts in Japan, Korea, and other parts of the world. World Hope provided the opportunity for people like you and me to share their faith around the world. Through this ministry, literally thousands of people around the world have come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

Harold would want to especially say thank you to the late Walter Nettle and his wife Frances for their dedicated help for so many years with the World Hope Ministry. To date World Hope Ministries International provides 53 mission opportunities for 2013 including a Bible Institute as well as prison ministries, schools, orphanages, and other efforts. Harold was blessed with a wonderful family and is preceded in death by his parents George and Inez Davis.

He is survived by his loving wife Frances Cardwell Davis, his children Dwight and Linda Davis, Cindy and Mickey Powell, Hal and Jennifer Davis, Melinda and Gerald Chavez, and his sister Carolyn Davis Dalton. In addition to his children Harold has fourteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren. His legacy will carry on in a tremendous way through his beloved family. Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 29, 2012 with visitation one hour prior to service at Riverbend Chapel. Graveside service will be at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, September 29, 2012 at Texas State Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Querencia as well as so many friends and family that have prayed for the Davis family and been so attentive through this time of illness. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to World Hope Ministries International. For more information please refer to the World Hope website at www.whmi.org
