CANNON, MARY F. BELL (1924 ~ 2021). The following is an obituary for Mary Cannon, spouse of William Cannon, former Justice of the 14th Texas Court of Appeals. The obituary was provided by George H. Lewis and Sons of Houston.

Mary Bell Cannon, was born on the 10th of June 1924 in Clyde, Texas, to Clarence Bell And Vera Warren, and passed away on Monday, the 8th of November 2021 in Houston. She was 97 years of age.

Mary obtained a Nursing Degree at Jefferson Davis in Houston in 1948. She worked at Hermann Hospital until starting school nursing at HISD where she retired after 20 years. She was an active member of Bethany Christian Church, The Delphians, and a long-time volunteer at The Shriner's Hospital of Houston. She was a beloved Mother, Sister, Aunt, and most especially “Meemaw” to her four grandchildren and four great-children. She loved spending time with her family.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Judge Bill Cannon; and son, Robert Bell Cannon. She is survived by her son, William Burton Cannon, III and his wife Debbie; daughter-in-law, Patti Cannon Prejean; four grandchildren, Carrie Cannon Kukowski and her husband Rob, William Blake Cannon and his wife Gina, Dillon James Cannon and Kelsey Jean Cannon; her four great-grandchildren, Bryce Austin Winter, Reid Elizabeth Winter, William Barret Cannon, and Beau Douglas Cannon; niece, Nancy Renaud and her husband Rick; great-nephew and great-niece Todd and Ashley Renaud; and Mike Winter, father of Bryce and Reid Winter.

A funeral service is to be conducted at ten o’clock in the morning on Friday, the 12th of November, at Bethany Christian Church, 3223 Westheimer Road in Houston, where The Rev. Dr. Tommy Thompson is to officiate.

The interment is to be conducted later that afternoon, at half-past three o’clock, at Texas State Cemetery, 909 Navasota Street in Austin, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband.
