BEAVER, CLIFFORD ALTON (1929 ~ 2015)

Clifford A. Beaver, a long time Elgin resident, died Sunday, November 22. He was 86 years old, having been born on February 27, 1929.
Clifford was born in Groesbeck, Texas. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served as naval aircraft radio operator for 8 years.
He then began a career with the State of Texas. He worked for 32 years as a groundskeeper manager. Among many other state areas, he took special pride in overseeing the lovely grounds of the San Jacinto Battleground Monument, the State Capitol and the Governor's Mansion. Clifford counted among his many friends, five sitting governors and former Speaker of the House, Gib Lewis.
Clifford was a devout follower of Jesus Christ and served as a deacon at First Baptist Church in Elgin.
He is survived by his loving wife Jean, she was the apple of his eye. Their loving life continued until the very last when Clifford peacefully left for his eternal life with God. Other survivors include step son, Bruce Goldston and wife Michelle; a step daughter, Sharon Haney and husband Jerry. There are 5 grandchildren, Matthew and Robert Goldston, Brittney Ross; and Sterling and Hunter Haney along with 6 great grandchildren.
He had a firm handshake, a huge smile on this face and an unforgettable laugh. He will be missed.
Pallbearers include, Bruce Goldston, Jerry Haney, Sterling Haney, Dan Love, Bill Miller and Bob Schier. Honorary pallbearers are the Men's Friday morning breakfast group from Cedar Valley Baptist Church, Elgin.
Visitation will be from 6p-8p on Friday, November 27 at Marrs-Jones-Newby Funeral Home, 505 Old Bastrop Highway.
Funeral services to be held on Saturday, November 28 at 10:00a also at Marrs-Jones-Newby Funeral Home in Bastrop
