BOWDEN, ELIZABETH AGNES COPPERSMITH (1924 ~ 2010). The following is an obituary for Elizabeth Agnes Coppersmith "Bettie" Bowden, spouse of Col. Parks Bowden. The obituary was published in the February 6, 2010 edition of the Austin American Statesman.
Bettie Bowden, age 85, of Austin passed peacefully at her home. She was preceded in death by her husband Col. Parks Bowden and her godsons Mike and Steve Murray. She is survived by her nephew, Dr. Barry Bowden and his wife Twila Bowden and their children John and Lynn; godchildren, Lana and Leah Murray, Jane Murray and her children, Laura and Weston Marcom; and a host of many friends she considered family. She also leaves her beloved parrot and companion "E.T." who accompanied her in her home for 30 years. Bettie looked at the world with childlike amazement and shared her joy with everyone she met. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. -2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 7, 2010 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 South Congress Avenue, and Funeral Service to begin at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Texas State Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to LifeWorks, 3700 South First Street, Austin, TX, 78704. Memorials and guestbook online at wcfish.com
