| STUMBERG, IONE STEELE (1902 ~ 1989). Ione Steele Stumberg was born September 25, 1902, in Franklin, Texas, the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. John Edward Steele.
She taught in the High School there after graduation from Mary Hardin Baylor College. In 1937, she graduated from the University of Texas Law School, second in her class. She was the Permanent Secretary for her class and took great pleasure in its annual reunion at the State Bar Association.
After marrying Professor George Wilfred Stumberg, she worked with him on legal publications in the 1940s and 1950s. Since his death in 1964, she served as an attorney in the Texas Attorney General's Office and for the State Senate. She continued to work at the Capitol until 1988.
Stumberg died July 19, 1989, in Austin, Texas and was buried at the Texas State Cemetery.
