BULLOCK, PAT M. (1895~1981) Pat M. Bullock, educator and state official, was born March 17, 1895, and attended West Texas State College, now West Texas A&M University, and the University of Texas at Austin. Bullock taught school for eight years and served as superintendent of Scurry County schools for ten years. He served three years as director of rural education for the State Department of Education and two years as director of emergency education for the Works Progress Administration.

Being an educator, Bullock took an active interest in the state's educational problems and carried this through to his nearly twelve years as a legislator. Elected to the Texas House of Representatives in 1941, Bullock only kept that seat a short time, as he was chosen to succeed John Lee Smith in the senate. At the beginning of the Fifty-Second Legislative Session, Bullock was named president pro tempore. On January 25, 1957, Governor Price Daniel appointed Bullock to the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles, where he served for the next 18 years. On November 20, 1981, Bullock died in Austin at the age of 86.
