BELTON, CARRIE WATKINS (1865-1946) Carrie Watkins Belton was born on September 13, 1865. She married Confederate soldier William S. Watkins on July 27, 1888 in Galveston County, Texas. Watkins enlisted in the Army in San Antonio, Texas on September 13, 1861 and served as a private with Captain Mecklin's Co. Light Artillary (A.K.A. Captain Haldeman's Co.-which became the 4th Texas field Battery) until June 1, 1862. Watkins was born in Woodford, Kentucky. His reported occupation was as a Doctor. Watkins died in September 1900 in Travis County, Texas. Carrie was married briefly to Ben Belton from 1925 to 1926. She died at the Johnston Rest Home on March 10, 1946 and was buried at the State Cemetery in Austin, Texas. BIBLIOGRAPHY: "Widow's Application for Confederate Pension", dated March 18, 1931
