HOGAN, MARTHA JANE "MATTIE" (1849~1939) Martha Jane " Mattie" Hogan was born on June 10, 1849 in Septus, South Carolina. She came to Texas in 1886 and was the wife of John Crocket Hogan (a.k.a. Crockett). They were married on November 5, 1866 in Williamson County, South Carolina. She had 6 children. Their names were Andrew, Will, Sam, Mrs. Lois Forester, Miss Lillie Hogan, and Mrs. Eva Benham. The National Archives shows J. C. Hogan joined the Confederate Army in Arkansas and was a Private in Company H, 9th Regiment, Arkansas Infantry. He was paroled on June 20, 1865 in Salisbury, North Carolina. He also served as a provost (prison) guard in Marion, Alabama until 1864. Mattie Hogan died on 4-23-1939.
