WILCOX, JOHN THOMAS (1842~1937) John T. Wilcox was born August 22, 1842 in Gadsden County, Florida to James Wilcox and Missouri Culberson both of North Carolina. He came to Texas in 1859. Wilcox enlisted in Company K, 16th Texas Infantry and served two years. He got sick and was discharged at Shreveport, Louisiana. Wilcox reenlisted with Company C, Terry's Cavalry for the duration of the War.

Following the War, he worked as a farmer. He was admitted to the Confederate Men's Home on November 1, 1927. John T. Wilcox died on February 4, 1937 and was buried at the Texas State Cemetery on February 5, 1937.
