YOUNG, THOMAS NATHAN (1835-1932) ~ Thomas Nathan Young, Confederate Veteran, was born April 6, 1835, in Georgia, either in Bibb or Talbott County. His father was W.B. Young, of Alabama, and his mother was Susan Chawbless, of Georgia.

At the start of the Civil War, Thomas enlisted in Company C of the 9th Georgia Artillery of Lee's Army. He served in that the unit through the war until the close and was at Appomattox Courthouse for the surrender.

Thomas moved to Texas in 1870, where he worked as a farmer. He was 87 when he was admitted to the Confederate Men's Home on February 1, 1922. He died at the home on September 15, 1932 and was buried at the State Cemetery.
