NEW, JOSEPH BARNETT (1847 ~ 1929). The following is a biography for Confederate veteran J.B. New. The biography was provided by a New family descendent.

     Joseph Barnett “J.B.” New, b. 06 Oct 1847 in Lauderdale Springs, Ms (son of William Robert New and Millisa Barnett).   He married 06 Jun 1870 Nancy Tennesee Truman, in Caldwell Co, Tx (Book C, pg 273), b. 28 Jun 1843 in Clark Co, Ark (daughter of William Truman and Aletha Jane Hudson), d. 18 May 1926 in Confederate Home, Austin, Travis Co, Tx, buried: Austin, Tx in State Cemetery on E. 7th. St. Joseph died 29 Jun 1929 in Confederate Home, Austin, Travis Co, Tex, buried: Austin, Tx in State Cemetery on E. 7th. St. 
      Father, William Robert New was b. 02 Nov 1823 in Duplin Co, N.C.   The family moved from Lauderdale, Ms. to Clearfork, Caldwell Co, Texas in 1848. William Robert New served as a corporal in Company K, Caldwell Co, 17th Texas Infantry in the War Between The States.
      Grandfather, William New (2) was b. about 1787, New Hanover, N.C. 
      Great-Grandfather, William New (1) was b. about 1757. William New (1), New Hanover Co, N.C. received a pension for serving in the 4th N.C. Line of the American Revolution on June 7, 1832.
