BOLDING, CYNTHIA HART STUBBS (1834-1925) Cynthia Hart Stubbs Bolding, Confederate widow, was born in Fannin County, Texas, in 1834. While much of her early life is undocumented, it is believed the she was married to a gentleman with the last name of Stubbs, though no record of this marriage has been located. After moving to Kaufman County, she married James Alison Bolding, a Confederate Veteran from Walker County, Georgia, on September 12, 1900. James, who was born circa 1841, had served in Company F, of the 24th Arkansas Infantry.

In 1909, the couple moved to Tom Green County, where James worked as a cobbler in San Angelo. On March 12, 1917, after successfully applying for a Confederate Pension from the State of Texas, James died. Cynthia, after moving to Val Verde County, that same year, began receiving James pension.

Sometime later, thought the date is unknown, Cynthia moved to Austin to live in the Confederate Woman's Home, where she died in 1925. She was later buried in the Texas State Cemetery.
