PATTERSON, DAVID C. (1834 ~ 1924). Confederate veteran David C. Patterson was born December 27, 1834 in Butler County, Alabama. Confederate Home roster records indicate he moved to Texas before the Civil War.

Patterson enlisted in Company H, Sharp's Brigade, Pat Anderson's Division of the 41st Mississippi Infantry on April 21, 1862 at Marion Station, Mississippi, close to the Alabama border.

Patterson was wounded on September 20, 1863, at Chickamauga and sent to a hospital at Marietta, Georgia. Following a 22-day furlough and after his release from the hospital, Patterson reenlisted on January 29, 1864. He was wounded again near Atlanta on July 22, 1864 during the Atlanta Campaign and discharged from service.

Following the War, Patterson moved back to Texas and farmed. He applied for a Confederate pension from the State of Texas in January of 1913 and in was granted the following June.

Patterson was admitted to the Confederate Men's Home on August 1, 1923 from Lampasas County. He was a widower when he was admitted to the home, but his wife's name is unknown. He died on April 21, 1924 and was buried at the Texas State Cemetery on April 22, 1924.
