CHOATE, JASPER (1840 ~ 1920). Confederate veteran Jasper Choate was born in Alabama in 1840.

Military records indicate Choate served for three years in Colonel B. Burnett's Battalion likely in Arkansas.

Choate joined the Confederate Veterans Home in Austin, Texas on September 9, 1915 according to the Confederate Home Roster. Choate lived in Llano County, Texas for about four weeks before moving into the Home, according to his pension application.

He suffered from Catarrh and kidney disease before moving into the home. Choate died February 19, 1920 and was interred at the Texas State Cemetery.

Relatives listed in the home roster include Mrs. C. Draper (sister) and G.J. Draper (nephew) both of Field Creek, Texas.
