TRAYLOR, LAURA LEE (1963 ~ 2017). The following is an obituary for Laura Lee Traylor, spouse of Christopher Traylor, former head of the Texas Health and Human Services Commission. The obituary was provided by Cook-Walden Funeral Home of Austin.

Laura Lee Milner Traylor passed away in a car accident on March 29, 2017, just outside of Los Fresnos, Texas.

Laura graduated from Amarillo High School in Amarillo, Texas and from the University of Texas School of Business in 1986. Laura worked on Capitol Hill, where she met her husband, Chris. She then returned to Amarillo as campaign manager for her dad's congressional campaign. She also became involved in the hospitality business, working for the Lubbock Convention and Visitor's Bureau, and eventually established and operated Traylor Convention Planning as a Certified Meeting Planner in Austin.

She enjoyed working in many volunteer and community activities including the National Charity League and most recently as a CASA volunteer. She and her daughter shared a love of music and attended concerts every chance they could. Eating fresh Redfish from the Laguna Madre after a fishing day on the island with her son was something she wouldn't miss for the world. She deeply loved her friends and family and especially loved morning walks on the beach with her husband and dog on South Padre Island.

She was preceded in death by her father, Larry Milner. She is survived by her husband of over 28 years, Chris Traylor, her beloved children Will and Betsy, her mother Suzanne Milner, and sisters Pollyanna Conover and her husband Greg Conover of Fort Worth, Bonnie Buck and her husband Scooter Buck of Cypress, and her cousin who is like a sister, Stacey Jones and her husband Dr. Troy Jones of San Antonio. She was also special to her 7 nieces and nephews, Ryan and Alyssa Conover, Shane, Suzanne, and Sarah Buck, Evan and Eric Jones.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Sunday, April 2, 2017, at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, April 3, 2017, at Westlake Hills Presbyterian Church, 7127 Bee Cave Road, Austin, TX 78746.
