STASSWENDER, JAMES ANTHONY (1947 ~ 2013). The following is an obituary for James Allen "Jimmy" Stasswender. Stasswender was approved for plots by the Texas State Cemetery Committee. The obituary was provided by Cook-Walden Funeral Home.

James (Jim) Stasswender passed away at his family ranch in Briggs, Texas on February 15, 2013, at the age of 65. Jim was born in Austin, Texas on October 9, 1947 to Tony and Blanche Stasswender. He was a graduate of William B. Travis High School (1966), and Southwest Texas State University (1971).

As president of Stasswender Memorials for over 30 years, Jim gave comfort to grieving families while providing guidance and expertise in their quest for appropriate monuments for their loved ones.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Linda Stasswender; his daughter Nicole Stasswender Kunkel, her husband Kevin Kunkel; his daughter Lisa Stasswender Lueck, her husband Bob Lueck; his sister Toni Stasswender; his sister Deanne Stasswender Marlow; his brother Bob Stasswender; his sister Lori Stasswender Oakes; and his 5 grandchildren: Dalton, Austin, Dylan, Cooper, and Georgia.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Blanche Stasswender.

Everyone lucky enough to have known him was touched in that special "Jimmy Stass" way, whether by sharing his unique wisdom, bringing a smile to their faces, or laughter to their hearts. Anyone that had the privilege of knowing him was a better person for it. His generosity and kindness to others, as well as his exceptional gift as a raconteur (storyteller) will be greatly missed.

Graveside service for inurnment will be conducted at two o'clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the 23rd of February, at the Texas State Cemetery, 909 Navasota Street, Austin, TX 78702, under the direction of Cook-Walden Funeral Home.
