BOLDING, SUSAN JANE WEAR (1852 ~ 1918). Confederate widow Susan Jane Wear Bolding was born August 4, 1852, in San Saba County, Texas, to John Williamson Wear, from Kentucky, and Margaret Stiles, from Springfield, Missouri.

After the end of the Civil War, she married Felix Grundy Bolding, in San Saba County, on February 25, 1869. Felix Bolding, a native of Mississippi, was born in 1842 and served in the Confederacy during the War in Moreland's Cavalry, Company D.

Sometime after their marriage, the Boldings moved to Williamson County, where they had eight children: Neely Frances, Charlotte, James Trapley, John Porter, Cora Ann, Walter, Beulah Genten, and Ernest Bailey, who went by Butler. Five lived to adulthood, Neely, John, Cora, Beulah and Butler. Felix worked as a farmer.

In 1906, no longer able to work, Felix successfully petitioned the State of Texas to receive a Confederate Pension. Following that, the couple moved to Austin to live in the Texas Confederate Men's Home.

Susan Bolding died at the Home on December 21, 1918, and was buried in the Texas State Cemetery. Felix lived at the Home until his death on June 22, 1919. He was also buried in the State Cemetery, next to his wife.
