BLAIR, DAVID JOSEPH (1842~1918) David Joseph Blair, Confederate veteran, was born in Texas in 1842. During the Civil War, he served in Company G of the 8th Texas Cavalry in Harrison's Brigade of the Army of Tennessee.

After the war, he worked as a deputy, possibly for the Bexar County Sheriff's Department. On June 2, 1914, Blair, a Southern Presbyterian, moved into the Confederate Men's Home. He died in the Home on December 10, 1918, and was buried in the Texas State Cemetery.

Blair was widowed before he moved into the Home and had a son, D. T. Blair, who was a cashier with the 1st National Bank in Oakland, Texas.
