DUCKETT, ETHEL COUGHRAN (1918 ~ 2006). The following is an obituary provided by Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home of Austin:

"Ethel C. Duckett was born on August 24, 1918 on the Coughran Ranch in Bandera, Texas. Her father and mother were Elmer E. Coughran and Mabel Harris Coughran.

Ethel graduated from East Bernard High School where she met her future husband, LaFayette L. Duckett. They were married on May 24, 1941.

She lived in Bandera, Leakey, Lapryor, Rock Springs, East Bernard, El Campo, Lakeway and finally at the Buckingham, Houston, Texas.

Ethel graduated from Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State University) in San Marcos with a degree of Bachelor of Science. She taught school at the Bernard Prairie School in Wharton County.

She was a member of the Methodist Church at Rock Springs, East Bernard, El Campo and the Lakeway Church for the past 20 years.

Ethel's passion was devoting her time to her husband and family and delighted in her grandchildren. She always traveled with her husband to out of town court trials, board meetings of the State Bar of Texas and various board meetings of the Savings and Loan business. She loved to travel on vacation trips, recently on the QE2 and one time on the Concorde from Europe to the United States.

She has a daughter, Faye Duckett Dettling and husband, Clarence Dettling; a granddaughter, Susan Holly Scott, a teacher at St. Michaels Catholic School, Houston Texas; and a grandson, Lance Duckett Scott, project manager with an architectural firm in New York City.

Ethel has a sister, Yvonne Nixon of Austin, Texas and a brother, Col. E. H. (Corky) Coughran and wife Gina of Sun City.

The family wishes to thank her loving and devoted caregivers-Charmion, Perry, Elizabeth, Alicia, Angela and the Doctors and Nurses at Vitas Hospice at the Forum and Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital.

The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at Texas State Cemetery followed by a Memorial service at 1:00 p.m. at the Lakeway Church, 2203 Lakeway Blvd., Lakeway, Texas.
