YANCY, JAMES W. (1926-2005) ~ James W. Yancy, Jr. was born September 24, 1926, in Lufkin, Texas to James W. Yancy, Sr. and Ossie Mae White.

James served his country as a United States Marine in WWII. He then earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas and received his law degree from the University of Houston Law Center where he was a member of the first graduating class. After his degrees were conferred upon him, James served the Houston and Austin areas as an attorney.

James then went on to serve in the 53rd and 54th Texas Legislatures and became an attorney for the Texas Association of Business.

He married Virginia Howell and had one daughter and three step-children. James W. Yancy, Jr. passed away on October 29, 2005 and was interred in the Texas State Cemetery three days later.
