Judge Davie L. Wilson - 1944-2016

Judge Davie L. Wilson went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on August 9, 2016. He was born August 26, 1944 in Louisiana, Missouri to James L. Wilson and Janette Wilson (Haley).

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Jeanne, three children, five grandchildren and his sister, Vicki Layman, of Bowling Green, Missouri. His children are daughter, Sharon Dianne Weaver and husband, Joshua and their daughters, Reagan and Abigail of The Woodlands, Texas; sons, Stephen Philip Wilson and wife, LaTresa and their sons, Joshua Caleb and Stephen Anthony of McKinney, Texas; and Cameron James Wilson and wife, Erin and their son, Brooks Allen of Rome, Italy.

A graduate of Lamar University and the University of Texas Law School, he began his career in private practice in Houston. He was elected Justice of the Peace, Precinct 4-2 in 1978. In 1983, he was appointed by Governor Bill Clements as the first judge to preside over the 333rd State District Court and served until his election to the First Court of Appeals in 1990. He retired from elective office in 2002, but continued to serve as a visiting judge for all levels of courts until 2016. Known for his integrity, his fairness and judicial temperament, he served with distinction and honor at all levels of the judicial system.

Judge Wilson was a man of strong faith and enjoyed studying the Bible daily. He loved the game of golf and often spoke how the game profoundly impacted his life. An avid reader with a soft spot for Civil War history, he and his wife made several trips across the country to various battlefields to further his understanding. He was devoted to his family and nothing gave him greater pleasure than interacting with his grandchildren, teaching, encouraging and challenging them.

The visitation is Friday, August 12, 2016 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home, 18000 Interstate 45 South, The Woodlands, Texas 77384.
