| MCGREAL, FRANCIS (1827 ~ 1909). Confederate veteran Francis McGreal was born in 1827 in New York.
McGreal moved to Texas in 1837 and lived in Hardin County.
During the Civil War he served in Company A, 35th Brown's Texas Cavalry, Hardeman's Brigade. Brown's Cavalry was organized in late 1863 with the consolidation of the 12th Texas Cavalry and Roundtree Texas Cavalry. Brown's Cavalry was assigned to Texas and Louisiana.
After the Civil War, McGreal returned to Hardin County where he worked as a merchant. He was admitted to the Confederate Men's Home in Austin on January 10, 1893 and he died there on July 17, 1909.
McGreal was buried at the Texas State Cemetery shortly after his death.
