| CLANAHAN, JAMES (1824 ~ 1907). Confederate veteran James Clanahan was born in 1824 in Alabama. He was a mechanic by trade before enlisting in the Confederate Army.
He joined the 21st Mississippi Regiment, Griffith's Brigade in June of 1861. The unit was detailed to the Army of Northern Virginia and fought extensively in the Eastern Theater including First and Second Manassas.
After the Civil War, Clanahan settled in Mexia, Texas before being admitted to the Confederate Men's Home in Austin on April 15, 1899.
He died August 8, 1907 and was buried in the Texas State Cemetery.
