MILLS, CARRIE PLEASANT (1853 ~ 1944). Carrie Pleasant Millls was born October 24, 1853, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to Thomas Pleasant and Carrie Neal, both of Virginia. Her father was at one time a teacher at the University of Virginia.
Carrie Pleasant married Alfred Oliver Mills in Brazoria County, Texas on January 4, 1887. Alfred Oliver Mills enlisted in Company K, 15th Alabama Cavalry in the spring of 1862. He served under Nathan Beford Forrest, who is widely regarded as the greatest Cavalry leader during the Civil War, until the end of the War.
Alfred Mills was born August 18, 1844 in Mobile, Alabama and died March 5, 1908 and was buried in Upshur County near Gilmer, Texas.
Carrie Mills was a resident of Dallas at the time of her admittance to the Confederate Women's Home on June 15, 1932. She died on October 23, 1944 and was buried at the Texas State Cemetery on October 24, 1944.
