HARDIN, BEN F.(1839~1919). Ben F. Hardin, Confederate veteran, was born in 1839 in Lawrence County, Missouri. In 1853, Hardin traveled to Texas where he later joined the Confederacy in Company K of Cook's Heavy Artillery.

After the war, Hardin, a Baptist, worked as a stockman in Rio Vista, Johnson County, Texas. On April 23, 1911, after his wife's death, Hardin moved into the Confederate Men's Home. After living in the Home for nearly nine years, Hardin passed away on February 9, 1919, and was laid to rest in the Texas State Cemetery.
