The Texas State Cemetery will be participating in the 2011 Texas Book Festival's Lit Crawl. The Lit Crawl will feature dozens of writers at various venues around Central/East Austin. The Cemetery will host an event at 8 p.m. on Saturday night that will feature a brief talk by Cemetery historians and Texas State Cemetery book authors Will Erwin and Jason Walker.

Stephen Harrigan, author and Texas History icon, will introduce the two. Harrigan's most recent book is Remember Ben Clayton; he is receiving the Texas Writer Award from the Texas Book Festival this year. Erwin and Walker will give a moonlight tour of the Cemetery followed by a book signing event in the Cemetery gallery. Books will be available for sale at the Cemetery event.

The event is open to the public. Meet at the Cemetery office complex at 909 Navasota Street.

The Cemetery event will be followed by a young adult literature event, featuring many talented young writers. The authors will answer questions and sign books on the Cemetery grounds. The event is scheduled to last until 9:45 p.m.

The book festival runs through Sunday afternoon and the Texas State Cemetery book will be featured at the UT Press booth. Find a map of the festival here. The UT Press booth will be in the 100 tent in front of the First United Methodist Church on Colorado Street.
